Distressing Benches and working on projects for the new shop.

Today I spent the day painting and distressing a bench that I am keeping because my guys made it for me they are building benches for my new store but this one is my heart so I thought I would try this method of distressing. It's very simple you prime the wood if it's unfinished or sand it and prime it if it's finished to take off the shine and rough it up. Then I choose a couple different colors of paint. I painted the green color first and then the second color which is an antique white to look like the colors are wearing off from years of use. I will sand some of the spots back to bare wood and use a stain to give it an antique worn look and seal it.
I like the worn off look of the paint it looks like it has been painted many times over many years.

I also made some charming vintage tags still need to add some lace but here is a couple that I have started.

I found  this wonderful shelf in my soon to be brother-in-laws junk pile he was going to throw it away! OH NO I grabbed it and cleaned it up and added some paint to it to give it some color. I love the little cubbies for my collections. I think it was used years ago in the post office there are little number or name tag holders on the ends of the cubbies how cute is that!

Another cute little wooden cubbie for candles and flowers.
And I took an old vintage suitcase and gave it a little shabby chic makeover. Still need to get an old key to hang on it but I think it's cute.
The old vintage postcards and the pretty french lady is so sweet.
I will be opening my business In February I finally decided on the name.

Hi Sue,
Thanks for coming by to visit and commenting about the rag quilt. I cut my square 8x8 and I did 5 squares across and 7 down. It was a nice size for a baby. I would love to see photos if you do the baby quilt.
Blessings..Sherry
